The VRU will be launching a custody intervention project providing mentoring and coaching and high levels of support and contact primarily for 18-25-year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) to reduce reoffending, particularly focusing on reducing serious violent offending.
This provision, in two custody suites in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire, will, through mentoring and coaching, use a ‘teachable moment’ to move individuals away from reoffending towards accessing education and training.
The decision on the successful bidder will be announced in late December.
